Greetings, travelers, nobles, and history lovers!
While we are deep in the planning phases for the grand premiere of the High Plains Renaissance Faire in August 2027, we aren’t about to let the summer of 2026 pass by without a proper celebration.
Wyoming has a legendary heritage of storytelling, music, and community spirit. If you are itching to don a costume, listen to incredible live music, or step back in time, you don't have to wait until 2027. Here are five fantastic cultural festivals right here in the Cowboy State that you absolutely cannot miss this summer.
When: August 28–29, 2026
Where: Ramkota Hotel, Casper, WY
The Vibe: High-energy folk rhythms, kilts, and Celtic history.
Right here in Casper, the Casper Celtic Irish Festival is returning for another spectacular weekend of music, dance, and heritage. Celtic culture and Renaissance fairs share a massive amount of historical DNA, making this the perfect summer stop for our community. Grab a pint and dance to the joyful Celtibilly Steel City Rovers or the booming, tribal folk rhythms of the Volfgang Twins, watch traditional Irish step dancers, and browse a market packed with unique Celtic crafts and delicious food trucks.
Why we love it: It’s local, it’s lively, and the community energy is unmatched. We highly encourage our future Ren Faire attendees to show up in their finest Celtic garb!
When: July 10, 2026
Where: Historic Sheridan Inn, Sheridan, WY
The Vibe: A breathtaking celebration of Indigenous dance, music, and art.
To truly honor the rich history of the High Plains, experiencing a Powwow is an absolute must. Held at the iconic, historic Sheridan Inn, the First Peoples’ Powwow brings together Native American drum groups and dancers from tribes across the region. Visitors can witness the mesmerizing beauty of traditional dance competitions, feel the heartbeat of the sacred drums, and purchase authentic, handmade Indigenous beadwork and crafts directly from local artisans.
When: June 6–7, 2026
Where: Cody, WY
The Vibe: A time-machine trip back to the 19th-century American frontier.
If you love the living-history aspect of a Renaissance fair, you will love the Frontier Festival. This weekend event turns back the clock to the 1800s. The highlight is the authentic Chuckwagon Cookoff, where teams use historic methods and wood-fired cast iron to cook up authentic pioneer meals. Combined with pack-horse races, living-history demonstrations, and folk artisans, it’s a brilliant celebration of Western frontier culture.
When: July 25, 2026
Where: Teton Village Commons, Jackson Hole, WY
The Vibe: World-class classical music under the open Wyoming sky.
For a night of pure magic, head west to the 65th anniversary season of the Grand Teton Music Festival. For one special night, Music Director Sir Donald Runnicles will lead the Festival Orchestra in an outdoor performance of classical favorites, including selections from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. Lawn seating is entirely free, making it the perfect opportunity to pack a picnic, lay out a blanket, and let classical music transport you to another world against the backdrop of the mountains.
When: June 24–28, 2026
Where: Original 1838 Rendezvous Site, Riverton, WY
The Vibe: Mountain men, frontier camps, and living history along the Wind River.
Step into Wyoming's fur trade era at the 1838 Mountain Man Rendezvous, held at the site of the historic 1838 gathering along the Wind River. This annual event brings the mountain man era to life with authentic encampments, black-powder shooting competitions, tomahawk and knife throwing, period crafts, frontier cooking demonstrations, and Traders Row filled with traditional artisans and merchants. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking for a unique Wyoming experience, there's something fascinating around every campfire.
Why we love it: Few events offer such an immersive glimpse into Wyoming's frontier heritage. Walking among canvas lodges and trading camps on the original rendezvous grounds feels like stepping directly into the pages of Western history.
